Cheryl Eggleston | September Days

    The canvas is gallery wrapped.

This is one of seven paintings in a series, the September Series. These paintings are the result of me reflecting on my Grandfather’s Ohio farm. I was thinking of the farming process – the land and the seasons. It brought to my mind the hot September sun beating on the sides of the empty outbuildings, waiting to be filled with the harvest and nasty weeds along the edges of the fields...

In this work, it looks as though the weeds are a completely happy bunch. They seem to be laughing and enjoying the sun. Little do they know Grandpa will soon pluck them up at harvest time and throw them on the fire!
