Creation of the Gallery

Event timeline and a few pictures showing the stages of development.

Before I begin, I want to thank all the people who helped me realize this dream.  The journey that lasted nearly three years has been an eye opener and I learnt a lot in the process. I want to especially thank Prof. Pichhadze who has been my guide at every step in making this dream a reality.

February 2013: Acquired the property with the idea of renting it out.

November 2013: My long time dream to run an art gallery was brought to life by my mentor, Prof. Jacob Pichhadze, while I was in Canada.

December 2013: Put up "Venvi Art Gallery Coming Soon" signs.  These signs were stuck to the inside of the glass panels late in the night just before my trip to India.

February 2014: Started the process of tiling the gallery.

March 2014: Utilities turned on, tile work completed, and a new coat of paint applied to existing walls.

April 2014: Met with COCA directors.  They provided a lot of valuable information.

June 2014: Acquired initial fittings to hang art works in the gallery and installed them on existing walls.  Venvi Art Gallery's Facebook page opened.

July 2014: Initial acquisition of art work by the gallery.  Display boards created.  Change of Use meeting with the city.

August 2014: Obtain liability and art content insurance.

November 2014: Contracted out the responsibility of the art gallery permitting and construction process.  Gallery construction plans were drawn and finalized.

December 2014: Applied for city permit.

February 2015: Obtained permission from city to start construction work.  Metal stud framing completed.

March 2015: Electrical rough-in work completed.

April 2015: Dry wall hung and taped. Plumbing rough-in approved.

May 2015: New gallery walls painted.  All trim work done.  Installation of the drinking water fountains completed.

June 2015: Auspicious ceremony performed by the priest from Quincy Temple, Jitendra Bhatt.

July 2015: All inspections completed and obtained Occupancy Certificate.  Installation of gallery track lights completed.

August 2015: All doors and windows tinted to block out UV and reduce Infrared. Final coat of paint and touch-up work completed.  Security and Internet services turned on.  Opening date (September 10th) and Grand opening date (November 7th) finalized and announced.

September 2015: Hung paintings on the walls.  Gallery Opened on the 10th.  First painting sold from gallery.
