Cheryl Eggleston | Blue Stripe

Blue finds its way into almost every painting Cheryl Eggleston paints. It's usually a light, gray blue or sky blue, but in this painting she highlights a simple stripe of deep, almost electric, blue. There seems to be something special about the color blue. To her it evokes a feeling of certainty - hard to explain, but maybe that's where the saying 'true blue' comes from; referring to absolute or certain (for example) loyalty. And yet, too much of pure blue can be overpowering, so there is only one stripe of it in this work.
