Venvi Art Gallery is pleased to present “Everyday, Evermore by Bryce Speed. For his second solo show with Venvi Art Gallery, Speed is exploring how we navigate and search for fulfillment in our everyday lives. His poignant abstract compositions serve as a starting point for reflecting deeply on our lives and the natural world in which we inhabit.

Speed’s fluid, abstract compositions are a combination of organic and geometric markings that reflect the natural world. His acrylic paintings are a graceful meditation on form and movement and a deeply intentional process. Speed has created his own language through his paintings and unique style and embraces the materiality of the mediums that he uses. Each piece draws the viewer in with a strong presence of self that accurately reflects the elements of the environment that they are inspired by.

This body of work in “Everyday, Evermoreis explained by the artist as, “complex visual worlds that are enhanced and slightly euphoric, while a darker undercurrent runs through some of the pieces.” The paintings display a variety of waterscapes in the present and the future, as they shift in response to climate change. Speed also uses the landscapes he paints as an analogy for the inner workings of our minds, and in doing so, allows for a complex conversation to take place, focusing on environmental topics, human topics, and how the two are endlessly intertwined.

Speed is inspired by artists like Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin, Edward Hopper, Thomas Nozkowski and Richard Diebenkorn. Like these artists, Speed is interested in making every day scenes meaningful. Additionally, Speed is drawn toward the balmy terrain of the South, and the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico where the serene landscape mingles with scenes of the oil industry.

After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi in 1999, he then went on to not only get his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama, but also a Post Graduate degree from the College of St. Mary in Nebraska. He has had many solo and group exhibitions all over the country, as well as one in the United Kingdom. His last show with Venvi, made the list for an Artnet article, “Here Are 13 of Our Favorite Gallery Shows From Coast to Coast That You Can Visit Virtually,” being the only show not from a New York or Los Angeles based gallery. Speed has also earned many grants, awards, and residencies and has written a number of articles for magazines and catalogs all over the country.

“Everyday, Evermore” will be open from February 16th through March 17th, and we will be having the reception on March 4th from 5:30-8:30 pm. Venvi Art Gallery is located at 2901 East Park Avenue Tallahassee, FL 32301.
