As the holidays approach, it can often feel overwhelming looking for the perfect gift. Weren't able to make it to our TikTok livestream from last Friday? Here are some budget-friendly pieces that were mentioned in it from our in-person gallery and our website's thoughtfully curated collection of artworks!

Starting off strong is Anne Stagg's series of pieces titled Celestial Orbs. Each piece is acrylic on canvas and is 4 inches by 4 inches. With multiple pieces in this series, each one costs $150 each. These small works are a great way to start your own collection or an art lover in your life's meaningful art collection. Given its small size, you can display it with other works in your space, or by itself on a flat surface due to the thick wood that the canvas is stretched on making it able to stand on its own. In other words, it is a great piece for a beginner collector.

Another great piece for a beginner collector would be any of Ray Burggraf's Bar Code paintings. Each bar code is listed with its medium as "Bar Code" due to the pieces acting as a descriptor for other works of Ray's. For example, a bar code on an item at a store tells you what that item is. Ray's bar codes essentially do that with his works. Each bar code is acrylic on wood and priced at $150 each. Each of these pieces are vibrant in color and can range from monochrome to rainbow gradation. Many might believe that the gradations are done using an airbrush, but that is not the case with Ray Burggraf's pieces. Each of his pieces are hand painted and blended with thick layers of acrylic. As an artist, Ray Burggraf has made significant impact in Tallahassee's art scene, being a founding member of 621 Gallery on Railroad Square and being its first president in the early 1980's. While any of Ray's works would be great for seasoned or beginner collectors, Ray's Bar Codes are budget-friendly and colorful. These are a great piece of art to display in your home!

Another piece that is also great for beginner collectors is Cascades Park by Chris Rivera. Priced at $250, this piece is 16 inches by 16 inches and oil on panel. It depicts a beautiful landscape from the titular park. Cascades is an iconic park in Tallahassee, Florida. This would also be a great keepsake for any Tallahassee native. If you like his work, Rivera also has other pieces on our website depicting locales in Florida's capital.

Another great piece worth mentioning is On the Edge of Ease by Cheryl Eggleston. If you are a fan of more surrealist artworks, this piece is for you. This piece is a 12 by 12-inch Alkyd on canvas piece that costs $345. Unlike other pieces we have in our collection, Eggleston uses Alkyd paint for most pieces of hers in our collection. Alkyd is much like oil paint due to its similar composition of oil binders, but it also has synthetically altered linseed oil in it. This makes it dry in less than 24 hours (Ekperigin, 2025). This piece would be great for a novice or seasoned collector.

This next piece would be great for a seasoned collector due to the piece's medium. Unlike previous pieces in this list, Leah Macdonald's Mermaid is an encaustic photo on wood panel. It is 14 by 11 inches and costs $600. Encaustic pieces like this one are made using hot wax with color pigments mixed into it. The mixture is usually put on wooden surfaces like panels, or also on canvases (Encaustic painting 2025). This piece requires more care in comparison to a regular painting since wax melts in hot temperatures, hence why it would be great for seasoned collectors.

If you or someone you know prefers more abstract artwork, especially pieces that are more vibrant in color, you should look into the acrylic on canvas pieces Fluorescent Drift and Mystic Bloom. These pieces are by our founder and artist Brinda Pamulapati. At just $500 for Fluorescent Drift and $600 for Mystic Bloom, these pieces are a great gift for anyone who collects art. Both of these pieces are vibrant, colorful and a feast for the eyes.
